The costs

A quick, honest note. This tool gives a rough, educational estimate to help you think things through. It is not insurance, financial, tax, or legal advice, and it is not a quote or an offer of coverage. Everything you type stays in your browser on your device — nothing is saved, sent, or seen by anyone. Your real number depends on details a calculator cannot capture, so treat this as a starting point for a proper conversation.

Common questions

What counts as final expenses?

The costs that land on your family right after a death: the funeral or cremation, any remaining debts, and estate administration like probate, legal and accounting fees and final taxes.

How much does a funeral cost in Ontario?

A traditional funeral with burial commonly runs about $9,000 to $15,000 in Ontario, and more in the Greater Toronto Area. Cremation is usually less. Prices rise a few percent a year.

Do I need a separate final-expense policy?

Not always. If you already carry enough life insurance, final expenses can be built into that. Dedicated final-expense or small whole-life policies mainly help when you want a modest amount set aside specifically for this, often later in life.
