Your RRSP

A quick, honest note. This tool gives a rough, educational estimate to help you think things through. It is not insurance, financial, tax, or legal advice, and it is not a quote or an offer of coverage. Everything you type stays in your browser on your device — nothing is saved, sent, or seen by anyone. Your real number depends on details a calculator cannot capture, so treat this as a starting point for a proper conversation.

Common questions

How much can I contribute to my RRSP in 2026?

Your room is 18% of your previous year's earned income, up to the annual dollar limit of $33,810 for 2026 ($35,390 for 2027), plus any unused room carried forward. Your exact number is on your CRA Notice of Assessment.

How does an RRSP give me a tax refund?

Contributions are deducted from your taxable income, so you get tax back at your marginal rate. A $5,000 contribution at a 40% marginal rate is roughly a $2,000 refund, and the investment then grows tax-deferred until you withdraw it.

RRSP or TFSA, which should I use?

Both help. RRSPs give an upfront deduction and suit higher earners saving for retirement; TFSAs grow tax-free and are more flexible. The 2026 TFSA limit is $7,000. Often the best answer is a mix of the two.
